Dr. Mike Sturrock was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. He attended Washington State University where he earned his veterinary degree. Following graduation, he served 3 years in the Veterinary Corps of US Air Force in Japan, and then returned to Washington to begin his veterinary career. His first experience in practicing medicine was in a mixed animal practice in Kent. He then practiced several years as an Emergency Room and Relief Practice Veterinarian. He purchased the Benson Center Veterinary Clinic in 1999 renaming it the Benson Center Veterinary Laser Clinic in 2002 when he became one of the first veterinarians in South King County to provide Laser Surgery for veterinary patients. In 2008 he added Laser Therapy to his practice as a new technology to provide non-drug, non-invasive pain control and relief to his animal patients.
Dr. Sturrock enjoys all the aspects and challenges of small animal surgery and medicine and is especially interested in dentistry, pet medicine and comfort. He is a member of the Washington State Veterinary Medical Association as well as the American Veterinary Medical Association.
In his spare time, Dr. Sturrock enjoys honing his skills at cooking low and slow bbq and spending time with his wife Joan. In addition to two adult daughters and a son.The Sturrock family includes two four legged members, Maile, the family’s third Border Collie and Nessie, their first Golden Retriever.
